Volunteer with Us!
11th Nuneaton (Weddington) Scout Group would love your help!
We’re really proud of our Scout group, and our long history of providing fun and adventure to so many young people (and adults!). However, as with all volunteer organisations we can’t do it without help, and our need for adult volunteers is as strong as ever, so that we can continue to deliver our skills for life programme.
So, we’re on the lookout for willing volunteers to join our leadership team, and we think 2026 could be the year for you to get involved!
We’re looking for volunteers across all of our sections; Squirrels, (4-6), Beavers (6-8 year olds), Cubs (8-10.5 year olds), Scouts (10.5 to 14 year olds) as well as Explorers (14-18 year olds).
OK, but what does a Leader Team Member do?
Leader Team Members are the uniformed adult volunteers you see every week. Operating with their own section, they run games, activities, events and even camps (for older sections). They ensure our members have a brilliant time whilst learning new skills and gaining valuable life experiences. There are no qualifications required to volunteer with a section - just enthusiasm and a desire to enjoy yourself.
For these roles we’re really hoping for volunteers who will be happy to:
How do volunteers know what activities to run? Will there be training?
All our sections follow the Scout Association Challenge and Activity Badge system – so it’s just a case of reading the requirements and coming up with a fun way to implement them. There are loads of resources available to use. Training is part of making sure we offer a great, yet safe, programme. All of our new volunteers are asked to complete learning in the following areas - these are all quick and easy to do online, at times convenient to you:
· “Safety and Safeguarding”: Ensuring adults and young people alike are safe and protected from harm.
· “Creating Inclusion”, “Data Protection in Scouts”, “Who We Are And What We Do”, and “Delivering a Great Programme”: Four modules to help you understand your new role and to give you the skills and confidence to get stuck in.
· “First Response”: A first aid course giving you a skill for life, also relevant beyond scouting.
Further optional training beyond this is available to those that want to go even further. Please ask for details. We also have lots of experienced volunteers who can guide you through the process – we want you to feel supported at every step!
What’s in it for me?
Pretty much everything our young people get! You will learn new skills, make new friends, gain new qualifications, do things you never thought you would ever do, travel to places you never dreamed of going to - the possibilities are endless!
OK, I’m interested, what’s the next step?
Please email our Group Lead Volunteer at [email protected]
We’ll then be in touch to discuss your specific interests, and if it feels right for you, we will put you in touch with the relevant team for a further conversation and a section visit.
Our roles will be subject to a DBS check. Once this is complete we’ll be good to go and start Scouting!

For these roles we’re really hoping for volunteers who will be happy to:
- Plan and organise brilliant activities which our young people will enjoy safely;
- Join our leadership community at 11th Nuneaton, by gathering with leaders from other sections through meetings and social activities – we want to have a real sense of connection across all our teams;
- Be happy to keep the basics in order; there are some administration tasks, such as keeping badges records up to date, communicating with parents and managing risks, so we want you to know that from the outset.
